Love Songs - Cody Tyler

There was a time when I'd get high and not recall what for

You'd find me stoned and too far out, helicopters on the floor

Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, always a reason to celebrate

You loved me through it all, you never kept score

That ain't who I am anymore

I don't write them drinking songs and put holes in the door

I don't get loud or act a fool

And carry on all night long

Except for the love songs

Those are still true

It's so easy to think you're hurting no one but yourself

We're all together in this world and need some degree of help

It just takes the love of someone

With the strength to not get gone

Thank God it was you, babe, to get me well

I won't make that music anymore

I don't sing them drinking songs and pass out on the floor

I don't get loud or act a fool

And carry on all night long

Except for the love songs

Those are for you

Now you're sick and tired just like I was

All it takes is someone who's right there to lift you up

Just some gumption, with a hint of love and trust

Motivation to function, someone to fill your cup

I don't write that music anymore

Sure, I might go smoke here and there out on the porch

But I don't get loud or act a fool

And carry on all night long

Except for the love songs

Those are for you

Yeah, except for the love songs

Those are still true
