Apple Tree - Cody Tyler
My summers were spent with Granny B
Swingin' underneath the apple tree
A boy of 5 naïve to life
Didn't take much to feel just right
Watching birds through a kitchen window
Walk to the pond and chase minnows
Sway with the trees in a noon time breeze
Those days go by so fast it seems
Time flies by and seasons change
God brings sun, we pray for rain
We all grow old, stave off the pain
Find our peace in what remains
Summer days underneath the apple tree
Ten years later, a boy of 15
No longer doing as he's told
His mind won't let him fit the mold
Time flies by and seasons change
God brings sun, we pray for rain
We all grow old, stave off the pain
Find our peace in what remains
Less time for family, less time for play
That boy's grown and moved away
Granny longs for those younger days
That old tree stands just the same
When it's her time, age comes to call
Like apples ripen in the fall
We'll smile at the memories made
And reminisce of golden days
Time flies by and seasons change
God brings sun, we pray for rain
We all grow old, stave off the pain
Find our peace in what remains
